<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image defect detecting technique which enables the accurate detection of defect pixels of an image formed on a recording medium, and grasp of the defect pixels with precision. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes: obtaining test pattern image data as inspecting image data, which are output as a test pattern image on an image recording medium; calculating a relational value between an image group belonging to a predetermined region in the test pattern image data and an image group belonging to a region corresponding to the predetermined region in the inspecting image data; determining pixels belonging to the predetermined region as defect pixels if the relational value is not greater than a predetermined threshold value; and displaying the pixels determined as the defect pixels so as to be able to be recognized differently from normal pixels when the inspecting image data are displayed on a display unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
