<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic processing apparatus capable of sufficiently suppressing power consumption of an apparatus body and extending the life of the apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When detecting an object located in a detection area of a sensor 12a of an object detection part 12, a user detection unit 10 does not detect the object as a user but determines whether the object is a user or not under a condition that the object is human and a face of the human is turned to the front of an ATM 1 body. Consequently, detection of an object or a passenger passed around the ATM 1 body as a user of the ATM 1 body can be sufficiently prevented. Thereby, the ATM 1 body can be prevented from being switched from a stand-by mode to an execution mode by the object or the passenger passed around the ATM 1 body, the power consumption of the ATM 1 body can be sufficiently suppressed and the life of the ATM 1 body can be sufficiently extended.
