摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defective pixel correcting apparatus, imaging apparatus, defective pixel correcting method, and program, capable of enhancing detection precision of edges without depending on the color of a subject pixel and also capable of suppressing an increase in the circuit size of a defect correcting system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A defect detecting unit 142 receives imaged image data having an arrangement of a predetermined size and detects and determines whether the subject pixel is defective or not based on the levels of the subject pixel and peripheral pixels. A luminance calculating unit 143 calculates luminance data of the predetermined size based on the image data having the arrangement of the predetermined size. A direction detecting unit 144 detects edges in plural directions based on the luminance data calculated by the luminance calculating unit and determines the direction to carry out correction based on the edge detection result. A defect correcting unit 145 carries out correction of the subject pixel, which is determined to be defective by the defect detecting unit, by using a pixel having the same color in the correction direction determined by the direction detecting unit.
