<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of solving problems such as filming by controlling an application amount of a lubricant to be uniform, the lubricant applied on the surface of an image carrier, by a relatively simple and inexpensive configuration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 includes a lubricant applying device 80 that supplies a lubricant to an image carrier 20 charged uniformly by a charging means 30, wherein the lubricant supplying means 80 has a controlling means 90 that can optionally and independently changes the rotation timing (on/off) of raising brush fibers for each color in accordance with a bias value (voltage or current) applied to the charging means 30.
