FIELD: machine building. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention refers to surface hardening of items operating under high-load wear and can be implemented at machine building. The method consists in deforming treated surface of items with a deforming element and in successive laser treatment for improvement of quality of an item by means of forming a uniform hardened layer with even distribution of surface roughness, also for enhancing strength property and efficiency. Deforming is carried out per one pass along the whole width of treated surface with the whole length of working zone of the deforming element, the axis of which is arranged at angle of (80-85) to the direction of its travel at supersonic oscillation superposition on the deforming element. Treatment is performed per one pass with a laser beam formed into a line with uniform distribution of power density along length of a spot created with the laser beam; also width of laser treatment trace equals to width of ultrasonic deformation trace. Notably, treated surface is transferred relative to the deforming element at rate equal to (1.01.5)V, where V is rate of transfer of spot formed by laser beam, mm/sec, along treated surface. ^ EFFECT: improved quality of item. ^ 1 ex, 1 tbl |
