PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flat battery excellent in reliability, in which an anode connection portion composed of anode leads of an anode collector put together is not pinched between a gasket and a cathode can or is not in contact with the cathode can. SOLUTION: In the flat battery, an anode can 10 mounted by a gasket 11 is engaged inside a cathode can 6 while an electrode body 1 is arranged inside the gasket 11. The electrode boy 1 is composed of a plurality of laminations of cathodes 12 and anodes 13 housed in a bag-type separator 15 alternately. A cathode tab 21 contacts with a bottom wall 3 of the cathode can 6. A cathode lead 25 comes outside of the bag-type separator 15, and each of the cathode leads 25 and a connection lead 21a of the cathode tab 21 are put together for connection. An uppermost anode 13 contacts with an upper wall 7 of the anode can 10. An anode connection portion 31 composed of top end sides of each of the anode leads 26 put together is arranged at a position in a vertical height where the upper wall 7 of the anode can 10 comes nearer than the bottom wall 3 of the cathode can 6.
