<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellently sanitary paper roll holder permitting single-hand cutting which allows a user to cut off toilet paper or the like by one hand with easy and power-saving operation without impairing the operability if the holder is attached in the vertical direction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The paper roll holder includes a holder body to which a paper roll can be detachably attached; a paper cradle having a magnet-attracting face composed of a magnet or magnetic body on the upper surface; rotary arm parts pivotally attached to both side plates of the holder body; a magnet bar member connected to the ends of the rotary arm parts; and a pinch lever part pivotally attached at least to one side end of the bar member. The magnet bar member has a magnet or magnetic body on the lower surface to be attracted to the magnet attracting face of the paper cradle, and can fix the paper held as the lower surface is attracted to the paper cradle on which the paper is mounted.
