Although dots and servo patterns are made of the same magnetic material, the dots have a relatively low coercive force so as to allow data deletion and rewrite by a magnetic head, whilst the servo patterns have a high coercive force compared with the coercive force of the dots. The coercive force of the servo patterns is strong enough so as to eliminate the influence of shape magnetic anisotropy.
