PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus improving saving of energy even in an image forming process for a printing operation in routine work.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image forming means for performing the image forming process based on a standard or repetitive, predetermined printing information; a power saving control means for controlling shift to a power saving state in which power consumption of an apparatus itself is reduced; a first setting means for setting a first shifting time at which the apparatus is shifted to the power saving state when the image forming process for the predetermined printing information is finished; a second setting means for setting a second setting means for setting a second shifting time at which the apparatus is shifted to the power saving state in a state in which the image forming process for the predetermined printing information is performed; a state determining means for determining whether the image forming process is finished or is carried out; and a switching means for switching between the first and second shifting times based on the determination result.
