SHAPE MEASURING APPARATUS AND SHAPE MEASURING METHOD

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure a degree of flatness of a rolled plate using a light cutting line. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A slit light irradiation part 31 irradiates a slit light to the rolled plate 7 and an image taking part 32 takes an image including the light cutting line produced by the slit light as an original image. An image recognizing part 351 extracts only the light cutting line from the image taken. An analysis part 522 obtains a shape profile based on the extracted light cutting line and approximates the obtained shape profile with Chebyshev series expansion to obtain a coefficient of extension of the width direction of the rolled plate 7 at an arbitrary position using the coefficient of the series expansion. Further, an analytical part 352 calculates the difference between the extension coefficient at the central part of the width direction of the plate and the extension coefficient. A monitor 36 displays the distribution of the difference of the extension coefficient as a graph with the position of the width direction of the plate in the abscissae axis and the values of the difference of the extension coefficient in the ordinate axis and displays the original image and the graph in one screen at the same time.
