<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil component in which the excess peeling of coating of coating wire is suppressed in thermocompression and a method for manufacturing the coil component. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the coil component 1 having: a wire 3 wound around a winding core part 2A of a core 2; and a terminal metal fitting 4 provided at a lower flange part 2C of the core 2, wherein the wire 3 is provided with: a winding part 31 to be wound around the winding core part 2A, relay parts 32A, 32B to be relayed to the terminal fitting 4 by thermocompression; and contact parts 33A, 33B which are extended from the winding part 31, regulated between the winding part 31 and the relay parts 32A, 32B to contact a part of the lower flange part 2C, thermocompression of the wire 3 is performed by a heater chip via a metal foil, heat in thermocompression is transmitted from the contact parts 33A, 33B to the lower flange part 2C to suppress the excess peeling of the coating of the wire 3.
