<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an incandescent lamp in which a metal foil and an external leading rod, embedded in a sealing portion, are reliably joined by welding and, moreover, in which the metal foil is reliably sealed in close contact with the sealing portion. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The incandescent lamp is formed by forming sealing portions 11 at ends of a light-emitting tube 10, by sealing a metal foil 2 in each of the sealing portions 11, and by joining an internal lead 3 extending inside of the light-emitting tube 10 and an external leading rod 4 projecting outside to the metal foil 2. Part of the external leading rod 4, opposed to the metal foil 2, has a bottom portion 41 and a protrusion 42 formed so as to project from the bottom portion 41, a top end of the external leading rod 4 of a metal foil side has the bottom portion 41 and the protrusion 42, the protrusion 42 is formed continuously from the top end of the external leading rod 4 of the metal foil side toward a back end side of the external leading rod 4, and, further, formed inclined so as to cross a center axis X extending in a length direction of the external leading rod 4, and the protrusion 42 and the metal foil 2 are joined by welding.
