<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rim lock having a resin block-shaped casing in which a novel configuration is used for a muffling measure against impact noise generated when a latch hub is returned. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This rim lock includes the resin casing 1, a latch bolt 10 advancing and retreating relative to the casing 1, and the latch hub 20 rotated for pulling the latch 11 of the latch bolt 10 into the casing 1. The latch hub 20 is restricted to rotate by coming into contact with wall sections 3a, 3c formed on the casing 1 with cushioning materials 21n, 23k interposed therebetween.
