<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a draw-down chuck capable of preventing the clamp force of a workpiece by gripping claws from being lowered by a balance weight disposed in a chuck body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A weight sliding hole 15 is formed in the chuck body 2. The balance weight 14 is inserted into the weight sliding hole 15 in a manner so as to be slidable when the chuck body 2 is rotated. The balance weight 14 is joined to a draw bar 10 in such a manner that a force for moving the draw bar 10 forward of the chuck body 2 which is produced in the draw bar 10 is reduced by the centrifugal force F1 produced on the gripping claws 11 by the rotation of the chuck body 2.
