<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust tension to be applied to a thread by a thread take-up spring according to tension applied on the thread by a tension disc. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sewing machine (1) is able to adjust tension to be applied on the thread by a drive of a first actuator (41) while adjusting a flow of the thread to a sewing needle by reciprocating a thread take-up lever. The machine (1) is provided with a second actuator (83) for adjusting a fixed angle of the thread take-up spring (50) through rotation of a thread tension shaft (49), a transmission mechanism (80) for transmitting a drive of the second actuator (83) to the tension shaft (49), an input means (60) for inputting the thread tension, a memory means (72) for storing the amount of shift of the drive shaft and the fixed angle of the tension shaft (49) from the thread tension input, and a control means (70) for driving the first and the second actuators (41) and (83), when the thread tension is input, according to the amount of the shift of the drive shaft and the fixed angle of the tension shaft (49), read out from the memory means (72).
