Provided is a molecular assembly which shows little accumulation ability in tissues other than cancer tissues, is highly safe for the living body, can be easily controlled in particle size and can be prepared by an easy and safe method.  Also provided are a molecular imaging system and a molecular probe which is useful in this system, and a drug delivery system and a molecular probe which is useful in this system.  Also provided is a method for preparing a molecular assembly whereby molecular assemblies having a signal group or a drug are effectively accumulated in a cancer tissue by utilizing the EPR effect and thus the particle size of the molecular assemblies can be arbitrarily controlled.  A molecular assembly which comprises a amphiphilic block polymer (A) having a hydrophilic block chain and a hydrophobic block chain carrying ten or more lactate units; a hydrophobic polymer (A2) at least having ten or more lactate units, and/or a labeled polymer (B) at least having ten or more lactate units and a labeling group.
