The device has a strip shaped insert (20) lying on both sides of an expansion joint (10) in recesses (14) of a roadway, where the insert is vertically fixed. The insert has connecting parts (23) placed horizontally and resting upon a plate (16) connected with the respective parts (11, 12) of a structure and fixed at the plate by pins (25). The plate has a through hole (30) i.e. slotted hole, whose diameter is greater than that of the pin. A tie bar (35) i.e. disk, is arranged at a free lower end of the pin below the plate, where the dimensions of the bar are greater than that of the hole.
