<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus capable of performing light control with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The image pickup apparatus is provided with a strobe, an optical system, an AF sensor, an AE sensor, and a microcomputer. Upon receiving an image capturing start signal, the microcomputer causes the strobe, to perform first preliminary light emission and then the strobe to perform second preliminary light emission, causes the AE sensor to acquire a light at an arbitrary sensitivity in the first preliminary light emission, and the AE sensor to acquire a light at sensitivity higher or lower than the arbitrary sensitivity in response to information about the distance acquired by the AF sensor in the second preliminary light emission. Then, the microcomputer calculates the light emission quantity of main light emission, in response to a result of the photometry of the AE sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
