PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus where an intermediate transfer belt is laid over at least a pair of rollers and driven to rotate, and which stably performs excellent image formation free from transfer deviation and color misalignment by restraining the rollers over which the intermediate transfer belt is laid from being heated by heat from a fixing device and expanded. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, the intermediate transfer belt 21 is driven to rotate by rollers 22a and 22b provided between frames 24a and 24b of an intermediate transfer unit 20, and a toner image transferred to the intermediate transfer belt is transferred to a recording medium S by a secondary transfer device 2, and is thermally fixed on the recording medium by the fixing devices 6 and 6. In the apparatus, a guiding member 25 for guiding air for cooling is provided to be opposed to the roller 24a existing at a position near to the fixing device inside the intermediate transfer unit, and a suction port 27 and an exhaust port 29 are provided in the frames of the intermediate transfer unit on both sides of the guiding member.
