PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer removal auxiliary brush for efficiently aid removal of developer remaining after development or transfer in a developer carrier, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The developing device includes a developer supply roller 13 for supplying developer to a development roller 12 which performs development to a photoreceptor drum 1 in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The developer supply roller 13 is constituted by having a plurality of brush bristles 13c electrostatically implanted into an adhesive 13b applied to the surface of a metal pipe 13a. The brush bristles 13c are formed from acrylic conductive thread so as to satisfy 0.5≤x×y/z<SP>3</SP>≤9.0, wherein x represents fineness (T), y represents an amount (mm) by which the brush is thrust into the developing roller 12, and z represents a distance (mm) between the surface of the developing roller 12 and the surface of the metal pipe 13a.
