PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new spiroquinone compound having high ABCA1-stabilizing effects, useful as a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent of each kind of diseases accompanying low HDL blood disease. SOLUTION: The spiroquinone compound is a compound represented by the formula or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. In the formula, R<SP>1a</SP>to R<SP>1d</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group which may have a substituent; R<SP>2a</SP>is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a hydroxy- or carboxy-alkyl group or the like; R<SP>2b</SP>is a hydroxy-, alkoxy-, sulfonyl-, alkylsulfonyl- or carboxy-alkyl group or a heterocyclic group having an alkoxy group; and R<SP>2a</SP>and R<SP>2b</SP>may form a heterocycle which may have a substituent by mutually bonding to each other with a neighboring carbon atom.
