<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To successively input a specific character after a final character of an undecided character string by easy key operation, in a character input device such as a cellphone terminal. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This character input device comprises an input part 22, a display control part 21, an input state decision part 33, and a character output part 34. The input part 22 is inputted with input data according to operation of an operation part 3. The display control part 21 displays a character string on a character input screen based on the input data. The input state decision part 33 decides a character input state of the character string displayed on the character input screen. The character output part 34 outputs the final character of the undecided character string to the display control part 21 as the character next to the final character when it is decided by the input state decision part 33 that there is a cursor just after the final character of the undecided character string and when the input data show that a prescribed key of the operation part 3 is operated.
