Provided is an optical transmission module which optically transmits only suitable data by a simple and small circuit configuration. An optical transmission module (1) is composed of a light emitting section (23) for converting an electric signal into an optical signal; an optical transmission path (4) for transmitting the optical signal converted by the light emitting section (23); and an electric transmission path (5). The optical transmission module converts the inputted electric signal having a prescribed frequency into the optical signal and makes the optical transmission path (4) transmit the converted optical signal. The optical transmission module (1) is provided with a signal discriminating section (24), which judges whether an electric signal having the prescribed frequency is inputted or not, and when an electric signal other than that having the prescribed frequency is inputted, the signal discriminating section gives an instruction to stop driving the light emitting section (23). Those electric signals having frequencies other than the prescribed frequency are transmitted to the electric transmission path (5) without being converted into optical signals by the stop of driving of the light emitting section (23).
