<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in OSNR by reducing the influence of PHB. <P>SOLUTION: PHB is characterized to occur frequently obviously if an extent of polarization is high in a wavelength near a signal. Therefore, an attenuation amount is reduced only for VOA of a channel neighboring to a channel, where a signal is raised, among channels where no signal is raised, and amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) generated by upstream amplification is transmitted through. Thus, while achieving suppression of PHB, deterioration in signal presence/absence detection accuracy caused by deterioration in S/ASE ratio can be avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
