<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polymerizable liquid crystal composition useful for producing optically anisotropic films. <P>SOLUTION: The polymerizable liquid crystal composition comprises at least one of compounds represented by general formula (1) shown below and at least one of photopolymerization initiators represented by general formula (2). Formula (1): Q<SP>1</SP>-SP<SP>1</SP>-X<SP>1</SP>-MG-X<SP>2</SP>-SP<SP>2</SP>-Q<SP>2</SP>. [In general formula (1), Q<SP>1</SP>and Q<SP>2</SP>represent each a reactive group; SP<SP>1</SP>and SP<SP>2</SP>represent each a spacer group; X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>represent each a connecting group; and MG represents a mesogenic group].
