The invention relates to a foot and footwear disinfection device intended for irradiation with at least one ultraviolet light source and/or an ozone generator, which makes use of the germicidal effect of said radiation, improves hygiene and prevents the proliferation of germs and bacteria that produce bad smells. The aforementioned radiation source is incorporated into the interior of the item of footwear during production or takes the form a removable device that can be coupled to the outside of the footwear so as to irradiate the interior thereof. The invention includes versions in which the radiation is built into a removable insole. The invention also includes versions in which the effect of the radiation on the feet is provided by a source that is incorporated into stockings and other versions in which a removable device that can be fitted to the item of footwear irradiates the interior of same. The invention is suitable for use in the footwear industry in general.
