<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire which is made thinner which can be equipped with a fluorescent lamp, having a discharge path circled in double spiral on the same plane. <P>SOLUTION: A lighting device 30 for lighting a fluorescent lamp 20 of a round shape as a whole, with a base 21 at an outermost peripheral face is provided in a surplus space along an outside of the round-shaped fluorescent lamp 20, so that the luminaire 10 as a whole can be made thinner without being made larger.
