PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user authentication system for enhancing the security and attaining a user authentication function to impose less burden on a user by registering various items in an authentication server, when using a plurality of personal-identification numbers. SOLUTION: The user authentication system 101 includes: a plurality of portable telephone terminals 100, the authentication server 101, and a communication network 102 connecting the terminals and the server, and then, authenticates the users of the portable telephone terminals and includes: a communication history information storage part 231 for storing past communication history information by each portable telephone terminal; a question generating part 211 for generating questions to the portable telephone terminals, based on the communication history information; and an answer authenticating part 213 for transmitting the generated questions to the portable telephone terminals 100 for requesting the answer to the questions, and authenticating the users, when the right answer is obtained.
