PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the modulation of a GDF-8 effect on cells. SOLUTION: This invention relates to use of a protein including at least one follistatin domain modulating the level or activity of a growth and differentiation factor-8 (GDF-8). More specifically, this invention relates to the use of the protein including at least one follistatin domain without containing follistatin itself for the treatment of disorders relating to the modulation of level or activity of GDF-8. The present invention is effective for the treatment of muscle disorders and muscle diseases, particularly for muscle disorders and muscle diseases in which the proliferation of muscle tissues is therapeutically effective.
