摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a solid-state imaging element capable of performing high-speed transfer and maintaining a frame rate when mixing pixels in a horizontal charge transfer part. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The driving method of the solid-state imaging element including a vertical charge transfer part for transferring charges generated in a photoelectric conversion element, a horizontal charge transfer part for transferring them in a column direction, an output part for outputting imaging signals and a charge storage part for tentatively storing the charges transferred from the vertical charge transfer part and transferring them to the horizontal charge transfer part includes: a first mixing step of transferring the charges stored in the charge storage part to the horizontal charge transfer part, mixing the transferred charges in the horizontal charge transfer part and holding them in the horizontal charge transfer part; a second mixing step of transferring the charges stored in the charge storage part after the first mixing step to the horizontal charge transfer part, mixing the transferred charges in the horizontal charge transfer part and holding them in the horizontal charge transfer part; and a horizontal transfer step of simultaneously transferring the charges held in the horizontal charge transfer part by the first mixing step and the second mixing step to the output part.
