<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compatibly secure both of traction coefficient and durability with a structure provided with a hollow groove for improving the traction coefficient on an axially one side surface of each disc 16. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this continuously variable transmission, surface roughness of the axially one side surface 17 is regulated in relations of Rsk (skewness) <0, Rku (kurtosis)<4, 0.4 μm<Rp (maximum peak height) <2.0 μm, and 0.12 μm < Ra (arithmetical means height) <2.0 μm, in measurement value with respect to a radial direction of the disc 16 under a condition where each hollow groove 15, 15 is formed on the axially one side surface 17 of each disc 16.
