<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate in which posture a photograph is taken, vertical posture or horizontal posture, when taking a photograph by using a change of driving force of one lens or imaging device constituting a lens system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Based on relation data stored in a memory 208, showing relation between the strength of the driving force and a moving amount of a correction lens 17 which is energized in a direction aligned with an optical axis and moves the correction lens 17 constituting a lens system, in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis by driving force generated by action of magnetic field of a magnet and current flowing to a coil, the posture discriminating method includes: a step of offsetting a threshold of the driving force set to a sine wave curve showing relation of a rotational angle of a camera 1 equipped with the correction lens 17 and the strength of the driving force; and a step of discriminating largeness relation of the driving force when discriminating the posture of the camera 1 to the threshold.
