<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent image which is free from friction etc. by preventing a developing roller from abutting against a photoreceptor drum when a process cartridge is not used and distributed, and to improve operability of a user by facilitating detachment of a protective cover of the photoreceptor drum. <P>SOLUTION: A member which holds the developing roller of the process cartridge apart is provided at a position opposite to the photoreceptor drum with respect to a center of oscillation. Further, a removable protective cover is attached to the process cartridge, and a projection of the protective cover is inserted between the photoreceptor drum and a development frame supporting the developing roller.
