<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an emission control catalyst for controlling emissions of exhaust gas from an engine 22 and further improve fuel consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A hybrid automobile 20, when temperature of an emission control device 134 is within a range equal to or higher than a threshold Tref at which the catalyst may deteriorate, performs an increase process of a fuel injection quantity for inhibiting temperature increase of the emission control device 134 while not performing an EGR process and when a load on the engine 22 tends to reduce from this condition, estimates a catalyst temperature Tc1, which may reach if the EGR process is performed, by means of rotation speed Ne of the engine 22, and when the estimated catalyst temperature Tc1 is lower than the threshold Tref, determines the estimated catalyst temperature Tc1 to be a catalyst temperature Tc. The fuel increase process is not performed and the EGR process is performed. The catalyst temperature Tc1 is thus estimated, the increase process of the fuel injection quantity is therefore canceled early and the EGR process is performed more early. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
