<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter which suppresses irregular orientation of liquid crystals and improves contrast when the filter is used for a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The color filter includes a resin black matrix 12 as a lattice pattern on a substrate 10 for segmenting the substrate 10 into a plurality of pixels, and stripe color patterns 20R, 20G, 20B. The color patterns include, at least partially, a portion where each stripe line is continuously provided over a group of linearly arrayed pixels in a plurality of pixels; each line has a group of overlapping portions O<SB>X</SB>on a resin black matrix 12 in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the line and also has a group of overlapping portions O<SB>Y</SB>and pattern edges on the resin black matrix 12 in a direction parallel to the line direction; and in a single pixel in the pixel group, the height h<SB>Y</SB>from the color pattern surface to the color pattern surface in the overlapping portion O<SB>Y</SB>is lower by at least 0.1 μm than the height h<SB>X</SB>from the color pattern surface to the color pattern surface in the overlapping portion O<SB>X</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
