<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily indicate a desired tracking point. <P>SOLUTION: In the image processing apparatus, a tracking point extraction section 71 tracks a predetermined point on a reproduction image as a tracking point in response to operation of a user. A display image generation section 66 displays on an output image tracking point candidates, as candidates of the tracking point, more than the number of moving objects on the output image and less than the number of pixels of the output image. A tracking control section 72 sets any tracking point candidate as a tracking point in the next frame of the tracking point extraction section 71 in response to operation of the user.
