<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron-emitting apparatus with an electron-emitting element which has a simple structure, shows high efficiency of electron emission and stably works. <P>SOLUTION: The electron beam apparatus has an insulating member 3 and a gate 5 formed on a substrate 1, a recess 7 formed in the insulating member 3, and a protrusion that protrudes from an edge of the recess 7 toward the gate 5 and resides on an end of a cathode 6 opposite to the gate 5, which is arranged on the side face of the insulating member 3, and allows an electric field to converge on the end in the width direction of the protrusion to emit an electron therefrom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
