<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device for detecting the indoor moving position while eliminating an accumulated position error. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the steps S1-S6, the moving direction and distance from a start point position (or position detected last time) serving as a base point of position detection are calculated based on the sensor output to detect the current position. In the step S9, it is determined whether the detected current position crosses a structure in a layout diagram shown by layout data showing a plane structure of a building. When the current position crosses, the process goes to the step S11, the crossing position is updated to a new current position, and the accumulating error is reset. In the step S10, the updated new current position is superimposed and displayed on the layout diagram shown by the layout data, so that the indoor moving position is detected while removing the accumulated position error.
