<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cross groove type constant velocity universal joint, suppressing generation of chattering noise or vibration, even when transmission torque is small. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The cross groove type constant velocity universal joint includes: an inner ring 2 having ball grooves 2a, 2b tilted in mutually opposite directions and alternately formed in a circumferential direction; and an outer ring 4 having ball grooves 4a, 4b tilted in mutually opposite directions and alternately formed in the circumferential direction. Torque transmission balls 6 are incorporated in intersecting areas between the ball grooves 2a, 2b and 4a, 4b of the inner ring 2 and the outer ring 4, tilted in mutually opposite directions, and a cage 8 is provided for holding the torque transmission balls 6. Elastic members 83 are disposed to a pair of circumferential direction parts 81b, 81b opposed to a circumferential direction of a pocket 81 of the cage 8. Even if action of vibration from the external or fluctuation in revolution speed is generated when the transmission torque becomes small and positioning of the cage 8 becomes unstable, shocks acting on the cage 8 from the torque transmission balls 6 are lessened to suppress occurrence of chattering noise or vibration by means of the elastic members 83.
