The filter (10) has a winding strip (12) used as a filtering material, where the winding strip is made of wire mesh and wound to dual Fermat's spirals. The wound strip has a cylindrical peripheral contour, and support bodies (14, 16) are provided at two front sides of the cylindrical contour, respectively. The winding strip has two ends, which overlap at an external circumference of the wound strip at an angle of 45 degrees. The support bodies are formed like a cup, and the wound strip is inserted into an interior of the cup. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a filter for cleaning hydraulic fluid.
