The seat (1) has a head rest bend (3) adjusted in a reference wall thickness at a minimum breaking strength and a minimum buckling resistance with impact load. The head rest bend protrudes from a pipe guide (5) of a backrest (8) of the seat. The head rest bend exposes enhanced buckling risk in a transition region (10) of the pipe guide to an isolated head rest pipe region. The head rest bend has a pipe wall thickness that is smaller than the reference wall thickness. The head rest bend has a metal foam i.e. aluminum alloy, filling in the transition region. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a head rest bend for a vehicle seat.
