<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker having a simple and space-saving structure, and having a slow-opening lid. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rice cooker comprises a rice cooker body 1, the lid 3 for freely openably covering an upper surface opening part of the rice cooker body 1, a hinge part for turnably supporting the lid 3 via a hinge shaft 4, an energizing means 5 for energizing the lid 3 in the opening direction, and a braking mechanism (an oil damper) 6 assembled to the hinge shaft 4 for braking the opening of the lid 3. The oil damper 6 is disposed outside the hinge part. Thereby, even if oil leaks from the oil damper 6 because of the impairment of durability in the elapse of time, flow-out of oil to the hinge part where wiring is disposed can be prevented because the oil damper 6 is disposed inside the lid 3 outside the hinge part, and therefore, a risk of the oil touching the wiring can be eliminated.
