PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container for packaging which smoothly attaches/detaches a lid to/from a container body without being affected by shrinkage of the lid after being molded by a thermoforming. SOLUTION: The container includes the container body with an opening formed at the upper end and the lid which can close the opening. The container body includes a bottom part, a peripheral wall which stands from the periphery of the bottom part and defines the opening and a flange part projectign outward from the upper edge of the peripheral wall, and the lid includes a lid body opposing to the opening, a projection part which projects outward from the periphery of the lid body and can be placed on the flange part, and a vertical hang down part which is hung down from the periphery of the projection part. Two or more engaging projections projecting inward are formed at a space in the peripheral direction on the vertical hang down part so that the engaging projection may get over the flange part to make engaging projection and the flange part engage with each other when the projection part is arranged on the flange part, and an extension part, which is extensible in the peripheral direction, is provided at least at any one of spaces between the engaging projections on the vertical hang down part of the lid.
