PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make switching to a backup power source for maintaining a predetermined voltage to be valid only when starting an apparatus of high writing frequency. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a validating means which includes an auxiliary power source separate from a main power source and validates use of the auxiliary power source only when starting an apparatus, and a switching means which becomes valid or invalid upon receiving control signal from the validating means and performs switching to the auxiliary power source from the main power source when a voltage of the main power source drops.
