<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a constitution, fold a work step of a paving machine, and reduce the force required to fold the step. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A work center step 7 is mounted to a rear end part of an extending and contracting screed 5 in which a screed body 9 is provided with extending and contracting screed parts 10 and 11 in such a way as to be extended and contracted. A vertical part 24 of an L-shaped first bracket 22 is fastened to the screed body 9. A second bracket 23 is linked to a horizontal part 25 of the first bracket 22 via a roller 32 and a roller shaft 31 so as to be horizontally moved backward to the rear face of the screed body 9 and vertically rotated. The center step 7 is fixed to the second bracket 23. By drawing the second bracket 23 out backward to the first bracket 22 and rotated upward, the center step 7 can be folded into a raised state into contact with or close to the rear end face of the screed body 9.
