PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for mounting a flange to the flange fixing part of a top plate firmly and surely without generating buckling in the middle part of the height of the flange barrel part in a method for mounting the flange to the flange fixing part of the top plate of a container such as a drum. SOLUTION: When mounting the flange 2 to the flange fixing part 10 of the top plate 1 of the container such as the drum by performing the curling stage of the upper end part 4a of this barrel part, a portion having possibility that buckling is generated in the barrel part 4 of the flange 2 is beforehand supported by pressing from the inside with divided dies 21 for preventing buckling before curling and, by performing the curling stage of the upper end part 4a of the flange barrel part 4 in this state, the flange 2 is mounted to the flange fixing part 10 of the top plate 1 firmly and surely without generating the buckling in the middle part of the height of the flange barrel part 4.
