<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a coupler for ultrasonic diagnosis without forming a gap between an abutting surface of an ultrasonic probe and the uneven body surface. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An appropriately adjusted quantity of water is mixed in PVA as a main material, and the mixture is heated so that the PVA is completely dissolved in water to make a PVA aqueous solution. Further, a fungicide and an image processing agent are mixed in the PVA aqueous solution, and the obtained mixture solution is cooled to make a sol mixture solution. Then, the sol mixture solution is poured into a mold, and the mold is put in a freezer at the temperature of 0°C or lower to freeze and solidify the sol mixture solution. After that, the mold is taken out of the freezer, and the frozen and solidified sol mixture solution is stored at room temperature to be naturally thawed.
