<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyzer 11 capable of stably performing the elementary analysis of a liquid material with good reproducibility by laser beam breakdown spectral analysis. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a target subjected to elementary analysis is the liquid material, a penetrating member is fixed on the surface of a substrate of which the compositional elements are clear and the liquid material is penetrated into the penetrating member to be thereby fixed. When the target subjected to elementary analysis is a granular or powdery substance, an adherend is fixed on the surface of the substrate of which the compositional elements are clear, and the granular or powdery substance is adhered to the surface of the adherend to be thereby fixed. A pulse laser beam L is condensed to a sample 12 to irradiate the sample and the fluorescence F discharged from the plasma P formed upon the reception of the pulse laser beam L by the sample 12 is detected to perform the elementary analysis of the liquid material from the detected fluorescence F.
