PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor positioning system, achieving high precision and low cost, protecting user's privacy and enabling decentralization. SOLUTION: The indoor positioning system of autonomous ultrasonic wave includes a position beacon transmitting device and a position beacon receiving device. When the position beacon transmitting device transmits a signal containing a synchronization information, an ultrasonic wave signal is continuously transmitted by predetermined time interval. The position beacon receiving device synchronizes with the position transmitting device when the synchronization information is detected, determines a transmitting sequence of received ultrasonic wave signal based on the obtained synchronous timing, estimates the transmitting timing of each ultrasonic wave signal based on the determined transmitting sequential order, calculates TOA information corresponding to each of the received ultrasonic wave signals from the transmitting timing and receiving timing of each ultrasonic wave signal, and determines the position of the position beacon receiving device based on the position of the ultrasonic wave transmitting device at the transmitting device and the calculated TOA information sequence.
