<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation system and its control method which can suitably perform control for securing a printable state following the installation state of an option article considered as standard equipment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A printer 1 is equipped with an installation part 21 wherein the option article is installed, a nonvolatile memory 14 for storing beforehand printing control information which specifies printability in a state that the option article 24 included in the initial configuration of the standard equipment has not been installed, a mechanical controller 23 for detecting the option article 24 installed in the installation part 21, and a controller 10 for controlling printing. The controller 10 determines the installation state of the option article 24 included in the initial configuration on the basis of the detection result of the mechanical controller 23.
